Romanian Cooking Simulator VR

This project represents my bachelor's thesis and it's a virtual reality cooking simulator about traditional Romanian cuisine with the objective of promoting gastronomy to beginner cooks. The gameplay consists in following the instructions for your chosen recipe from the book to create traditional Romanian dishes.

Regarding the game's features, the most important ones include:

• The recipe book, which contains information for each recipe such as a list of ingredients and the quantities required for it, instructions regarding the container in which the mixture of ingredients must be cooked, the temperature and the necessary time for the recipe and the number of servings that will result from this process.
• The  ingredients, which are added to the container in different ways depending on their type, liquid ingredients such as oil, water or milk are poured, ingredients specified using grams can be cut using a knife, but there are also special ingredients, such as the case of eggs that are added whole.
• The cooking appliances, which are of 3 types: the oven, the microwave oven and the stove, each of which can be configured at a certain temperature and duration to cook the dough according to the requirements of the recipe.

The game controls as follows:

• The grip button on either controller is used for grabbing objects, press to pick-up an object, release to let go. Objects out of reach can be grabbed from a short distance if you point your hand at it until a white ray appears.
• The trigger is used for teleporting around the level, holding it down will show a curve and a landing point, releasing will teleport the player to that point.
• The right stick can be used to rotate the character for minor adjustments.

The game was tested on Oculus Rift, Meta Quest 2 and partially on the HTC Vive, but it should work fine on any virtual reality headset.
